Checkout this article. It's gonna seriously suck when gas is $2/liter. I wonder if a smart car can make it over the coquihalla?
CIBC World Markets suggested Tuesday that over the next five years oil prices will almost double, averaging close to $77 US per barrel and reaching $100 by 2010.
That report followed a similar prediction by U.S. investment firm Goldman Sachs, a major trader in the energy markets, which said oil markets may have entered a "super-spike" that could push prices toward $105 US a barrel.

No it won't. The price of gas increasing is a Good Thing. It's about time that the cost of oil more accurately represents what it's worth, both in how precious it is as well as it's devastating effects on the environment.
What does suck, however, is that almost none of that $2 will go back to helping fix the environmental damage that it's caused.
Oil is way more important for plastics than to be used to drive SUV's 30km to work and back everyday. There's so many alternative forms of energy that can be used for simply driving to work and back. Maybe now people will start mainstreaming the development of them.
Oh yeah, and I'm pretty sure a smart car could make it over the coquihalla. Supposedly, they're suppose to be capable of traveling over 600 km on one tank of gas (a 27 litre tank at that!).
Posted by: hadsie on April 7, 2005 12:37 PMYeah, but can a smart car make it up some of those hills at more the 20km/h?!

Posted by: hadsie on April 7, 2005 02:30 PMI'm pretty sure smart cars only go like, 80km/h... they are not made for highway driving, they are made for driving around paris and parking in ridiculously small places :)
