OK, here's the question of the day: "What credit card should I get?"
My current card is the CIBC Dividend Card. It gives 1% of my yearly purchases back. So, If I spend $10,000 over the year, I get $100 back in time to spend it on the Militant Bitch's xmas present :)
There seems to be 2 categories of options (I'm only looking at CIBC VISA's at the moment).
A. Cash Back Cards
1. Dividend: 1% cash back, free
2. Dividend Platinum: 2% cash back, $79 annual fee
B. Travel Cards
1. Aero Classic: 1 point per $2, $29 annual fee
2. Aerogold: 1 point per $1, $120 annual fee
An international flight costs ~$1500, or 75,000 points.
Let's calculate what I'd have to do with each card in order to get the above flight shall we...
Dividend: Purchase $150,000
Dividend Platinum: Purchase $75,000
Aero Classic: Purchase $150,000
Aerogold: Purchase $75,000
So, it seems the money back and travel cards are equivalent, except the travel cards have a higher fee.
However, you also need to take into account the fact that you can get aeropoints from other sources. If you get a Star Alliance flight, you get 1 point for every mile of the flight I believe (I got 9000+ points from my flight to Japan). You can also get bonus points from the Aerogold card if you use it at certain restaurants and shops.
It also depends on what flight you use the points on. A flight to newfie land costs $1000 but only 25,000 points!
Man, this is giving me a headache!! Any thoughts? I'm leaning towards the Aerogold card, partly because it seems like it has more potential, and partly because it forces you to use your bonus for travelling ;)
Anybody know of any other types of cards that seem good (from different banks perhaps)??
So, I was driving to work today, and I heard this news story on the radio (I think it was Z95). Anyway, apparently a study was done that found women DON'T actually like buff men as much as guys think!! Woot, I'm hot ;)
Apparently the Jude Law type build is what chicks want. I've been googling all over the damn place to find the story, but I'm afraid my search skills aren't what they used to be!
The study also found that guys are NOT into skinny chicks as much as women think.
I can't speak for the woman's side, but I can give a thumbs up to the men's side. Um, hello! If I wanted skin and bone I could look down my pants!! ;)
I never understood why everybody found Kate Moss so damn hot!? I think she's a piece of ass...skinny, boney ass! Now, don't get me wrong...I'm not generally a fan of large woman! Although, some are damn hot, given the right attitude and clothing!
So, consider this a poll! What kinda body type are you into?
My vote? Curves *drooling*... When curves turn into rolls, not so much, but definately curves :)
PS during my search I stumbled on this article i thought was kinda funny :)
Cleaning is Hot
Just remember ladies (one in particular)...nowhere in the article does it say men should do ALL the cleaning ;)
Incase you needed proof that SFU is lame. When's the last time SFU students got busted for filming porn on campus??
Story Here
I thought this bridge/tunnel connecting Sweden and Denmark was pretty cool! I guess the tunnel part is a lot more expensive to build, so they made cheaper bridge sections, and then tunnel sections to allow big boats to go through?
OK, some people might find this post pretty boring. Consider yourself warned!
Since rent takes up a lot of $$bling$$ from everyone, I figured some people might be interested in the subject.
I was talking to Petter the other day, and we were trying to figure out if buying a place was really worth it. Well, google helps if you just want to figure out the numbers. Sure, there's lots of things to think about besides the numbers, but it's a start.
Here's some Rent vs. Buy calculators I've tried out and thought were kinda handy. Any thoughts on the matter?

It makes it a lot easier if you assume that your house price will not go down by the time you sell. Now, buying right now kinda freaks me out, cause I think the market is in for a drop, and I can therefore not be certain the value of what I buy will go up. It also depends on how long you intend on owning the place. If you only wanted it for 2 years, I think buying right now would be risky. If it was for 10 years, I can't see prices going down.
Just figuring out how long you'd like to own the place is a large problem for me! Buying a place really ties you down. However, I suppose if you needed to, you could always rent your place out to pay for your mortgage payments.
What do you guys think?
So I Married an Axe Murderer is a damn funny movie! I was reminded of it when I was searching for sound clips yesterday. Thought I'd share some sound clips. You've probably heard me massacre them a million times by now, so you may as well hear the real thing!
There you have it folks...
Check this out
Don't worry, it's worksafe ;)
I was gonna make fun of people who have enough time to make something like that, but then I realized 2 important things:
1. I seem to have enough time to blog about it.
2. I wanna be the guy with enough time to do that! :)
Alright, let's get this party started with some Drinkin'!
Followed by some good times...
End off with some more 'O these...

Cheers mates!
So, my new employer has an office in Amsterdam, Hello!! :P

Damn, yo...the weather this weekend was SWEET!!
So, I busted it up to the cabin and did manly things like topping the willow trees with a chainsaw...

There was also some firewood chopping going on, which I don't have pics of.
It was 21 degrees at 4pm...not too shabby!

Well, it seems that vancouver is gonna repaint their squad cars. So, which one of these ugly assed paint jobs do you want to see flash on their lights while you're speading down the HOV lane without a passenger at 140KM/hr??
I think they should paint those fake bullet holes all over their cars! Yeah, that'll show people how tough they are!!
Alright, everybody (and by everybody I mean Ciavarro and Carla, cause really, who else is there?) are on this golf craze.
So, I've decided to post the rules that we all know and love...
THE RULES OF BEDROOM GOLF:
1. Each player shall furnish his own equipment for play, normally one club and two balls.
2. Play on course must be approved by the owner of the hole.
3. Unlike outdoor golf, the object is to get the club in the hole and keep the balls out.
4. For most effective play, the club should have a firm shaft. Course owners are permitted to check shaft stiffness before play begins.
5. Course owners reserve the right to restrict club length to avoid damage to the hole.
6. Object of the game is to take as many strokes as necessary until the owner is satisfied play is complete. Failure to do so may result in being denied permission to play again.
7. It is considered bad form to begin playing the hole immediately upon arrival. Experienced players will normally take time to admire the entire course, paying special attention to well formed mounds and bunkers.
8. Players are cautioned not to mention other courses they have played or are currently playing to the owner of the course being played. Upset owners have been known to damage a players equipment for this reason.
9. Players are encouraged to have proper rain gear, just in case.
10. Players should not assume that the course is in shape to play at all times. Players may be embarrassed if they find the course temporarily under repair. Players are advised to be extremely tactful in this situation. More advanced players will find alternate means of play when this is the case.
11. Players should assume their match has been properly scheduled particularly when playing a new course for the 1st time. Previous players have been known to become irate if they discover someone else is playing what they considered a private course.
12. The owner of the course is responsible for the pruning of any bushes, which may reduce the visibility of the hole.
13. Players are strongly advised to get the owners permission before attempting to play the backside.
14. Slow play is encouraged, however, players should be prepared to proceed at a quicker pace at the owners request.
15. It is considered an outstanding performance, time permitting, to play the same hole several times in one match.
Um, no, actually I haven't...though it looks pretty sweet!

I did however see a HARRISON Ford today though. I was walking right behind him on Seymour & Dunsmuir today at lunch.
I've gotta say, I think the quality of america'a actors is a lot better than their shitty cars! Although, Harrison was wearing some pretty shitty shoes for a rich guy.
One thing I've always thought is that these two should do a wife swap...

Now, to bring this blog back around from hot chicks to Harrison Ford.
Zeta Jones...Indiana Jones...can the link be any more obvious ;)
Goddamit, "be any more obvious" just brought Avril into my head...Damn you Ciavarro
So I stumbled onto this site yesterday, and I gotta say, it kinda freaked me out!
Crazy Bush supporters make me wet my pants...
Although, there were a couple redneck-ish things I found quite amusing...

and...

and...

and for some strange reason, this one reminded me of Carla ;)

and lastly

OK, maybe it's just cause I love the A-Team, but I think this is friggin' hillarious!! :P
Especially "Moderately offensive interest" from here.
Oh, and yes I'm trying to do as little work as possible ;)
So, apparently SFU is getting a campus extension. Part of the old Woodward's building has been donated to SFU's School of Contemporary Arts. I think that's a pretty sweet idea to help revitalize that area!
There's also going to be 400 units of "social housing". Now, I'm not sure the exact definition of social housing, I'm assuming it means government subsidized housing? My concern is that it's probably not the best way to keep drugs and all that comes along with it out of that area. However, the more I think about it, the more I think it might at least be a good start.
The area needs a good base of people in the area to bring in new businesses that will help clean it up. Obviously the utopia is to have high end housing brought into the area as that would attract the $$$ to clean up the area in a hurry. However, anybody with $$$ would not want to live there in it's current state. Low-income family housing would hopefully bring in some decent people an allow business to follow.
I guess my real concern is "what is social housing"? Are we talking a place for crack head's to shoot up, or are we talking a place where anyone can rent? I would assume that you'd have to pass some kind of financial needs test or something?
Anybody know what that's all about??
Makes me think buying a cheap place around cambie and hastings would be a good investment. Although, the friggin' price they ask around there is still WAY to high! :(
I stumbled across this website that has some pretty sweet photos of the west end, and downtown vancouver in general.
I've always thought the photo below was pretty damn amazing. You can read the story about it here.
Basically, a navy office was able to luck out with his SLR camera and take a photo of this F-18 fighter just as it was breaking the sound barrier. The plane was going about 740mph, so I'm amazed the plane made it into the shot at all!
The clound around the plane is some kind of condensation bubble that apparently forms often when a plane goes supersonic. Sweet shot!

Whoa, sweet! I just found this video of it happening! Crazy stuff! :P
