Vintage aircraft in a fly-past over Buckingham Palace, London, Sunday, July 10, part of ceremonies to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
So, I heard on the radio yesterday that it's the 711 slurpee's 40th Anniversary today! I also saw the same story this morning on the news. They said that each 711 location is giving away the first 1000 slurpies!! Wahoo!! :)
The strange thing though, is that I googled for some more info, and I can't find mention of it anywhere! I thought that was kinda wierd.
The only thing I could find was about giving away Mini Coopers down in the states...
Wait, I did find mention of it here, but that's pretty lame.
I guess I'll just have to go over to 711 and ask in person.
So, If this turns out to be true...congratulations slurpy, you're my hero!!
mmm...slurpee...my precious! Gives it to me! It's mine!!
So, on the brighter side, I found out some interesting info about the Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen) song.
Apparently the lyrics were originally written by a reporter for a news article. A few months later someone posted the news article on the net claiming that it was an MIT graduation speech given by famous author Kurt Vonnegut.
After seeing this hoax on the net, Baz Luhrmann bought the rights to the lyrics and turned it into a song.
Pretty crazy twist of events to pump out a hit song...
