getting ready

saltspring was great. the hostel we stayed in was really nice--super kitchen, cool composting toilet, nice folks, and the treehouse was sweet. i'd recommend it to anyone in a second. we went biking in ruckle park on tuesday, which was really nice, and wednesday we went up mount maxwell (awesome view), and then drove out to vesuvius (tiny town). we also hung around ganges a bunch. it's a nice town if you overlook the crazy drug dealers that hang out in the park.

so we're busy getting ready for the big trip now as well. i'm gonna post a rough schedule here so that people can let me know if they think they'll be around when we come through. here's as far as we've planned...

june 27- vernon
july 2- calgary
july 3- saskatoon
july 6- grand beach, man.
july 8- kekabeka, ont.
july 9- sudbury area
july 10- georgian bay area
july 11- guelph
july 14- ottawa
july 16- montreal
july 20- ste.-foy
july 21- riviere-du-loup
july 22- fredricton, n.b.
july 23- digby, n.s./bay of fundy area
july 24- kejimijjik national park
july 26- halifax
july 28- cape breton area
july 31- pei
aug 3- riviere du loup
aug 4- quebec city
...

so send me back an email where ever you're gonna be in the country, and i'm sure we'll be coming through...and looking for a place to crash!

organization

well, it's been a while, but on the off chance that anyone's still reading i thought i'd write a bit. to update, scott's been back for a few weeks now, convocation has come and gone, and i'm all settled in my new apartment. it's working out really well so far, and i didn't even know it when i moved in, but there's a hot tub!!! scott and i just upgraded my OS, so i'm trying to get my computer reorganized and ready for the fall before we leave on our cross canada venture. we've mostly just been starting to get all the stuff we need, still have to go get a cooler and a propane tank and some other odds and ends though. we're also going on a short trip at the start of next week to saltspring island to stay in this treehouse thing. it should be a nice trip! oh, and one more exciting thing, i got a new bike! i figured that my 150$, 12 year old canadian tire bike had lived a good life. so in true vancouver style, i went out and got me a sweet mountain bike. now i can lift my bike without getting a hernia, ride uphill without dying, and attempt to take on obstacles which are much more challenging than i am prepared for. i'll let you all know when i have my first good wipe out. anyway, gotta get on with the day.
