Reading: "About a Boy"- Nick Hornby (good, but so far not as good as a book I read by him earlier "How to be Good"), and also I think I should have tried harder to wait until after reading it to see the movie.
Listening to: "I Hear Noises"- Tegan and Sara I wish they were playing a concert here soon! :-(
Watching: Alias That last episode kicked ass.
Eating: miso soup that I made a couple days ago. mmmmmm.
Wearing: crazy mint green cargo coruroys that I bought with a gift certificate from christmas.
Feeling: tired. Good night.

So, for anyone who was wondering, the trip to Whistler didn't exactly meet my expectations. You'd think if you were going to shell out that much dough for a couple nights at a "world class resort" that it would be pretty much a guaranteed good time. The first day started out pretty well. The hotel room was really nice, and we walked around the town a bit, I got a new bikini that I really like. After supper, we just hung out for a bit, then around 10pm, we went out for a walk. It was pretty happening (it was a Saturday), and we're strolling down the sidewalk, when all of a sudden, Matt and Heather appear walking the other way! It was pretty crazy. They were going to go to a bar, but I was wearing sweats, so we went to a pub instead, and hung out for the rest of the night. It was a nice surprise to run into them.
Just before 1am, we went back to the hotel and went to bed. At about 3:30am, a roaring stereo and screaming people outside woke us up, and it took a while for them to quiet down. At about 8am, some ass-muncher knocked on our door, and then tried to come in. We later saw that our 'do not disturb' sign was missing...coincidence? Then the snowplows were out at 9am moving snow *grind, beep, beep, beep* even though it hadn't snowed at all. 5.5 hours of sleep really makes you want to jump out of bed and face the day.
We just lounged around for most of Sunday, watched a Jackie Chan movie, and wandered around Whistler. Scott got a huge burger for supper, and I got KFC (which I later regretted...when will I learn?) Later on we had a little hot tub, even though it was in another building which we had to walk outside to get to. Sunday night was a lot quieter until 5:30am. 5:30!!! When out came the plows again...and no, it still hadn't snowed. In fact, it rained on and off through the weekend. We nearly headed back to the city right then, while they beeped and grinded for a good hour or so, moving around the snow, and no doubt waking up everyone in the hotels on that street. Finally they left, and a couple minutes later, some bus started loading below our window. Of course the guys loading the bus HAD to yell. The bus left at around 7am, and we finally got back to sleep for a couple hours before we had to get up and check out. That was about another 5.5 or 6 hours of sleep night.
Lets just say, it started out alright, but just kept going downhill after we left the pub on Saturday night. Needless to say, I wrote a nasty little card to the hotel (not enought toilet paper, had to bring our own comforter cause I'm allergic to down, no front desk service in the evenings or morning for check out, serious noise issues), and a really nasty email to a few departments at the Whistler town hall, since the noise problems were mostly due to them. No response yet, but I'll let you know.
It was an ok place, but honestly, I don't know if I'd want to go back, the money could have been spent elsewhere.

i'm taking scott and running away to whistler in the morning. i'm really excited cause the place we're going to stay at looks really nice and has a kitchen so i can make food! if i get brave, i may even go skiing for the first time in about ten years. (yikes!) cross your fingers that the roads are clear!

...this blog is going to be longer than usual.
so, the rest of christmas break and new years went pretty well. i went back to vernon after my little stay at home, the day after i got there, i curled in the hollyspiel with scott's family. i made great contributions to their count of 'hogs' (rocks that don't make it past the hogline on the other end), and got a mug in the prizes afterwards. (just not to confuse anyone, everyone got a prize) then i finished up my big ol' paper and sent it in. we hung out there for a couple more days.
on the 29th, kirsti, my oldest friend from saskatoon, who was driving out to victoria came and stayed with us at scott's. the next day, we headed back to vancouver, scott, bliss, and i in one car, kirsti and all her earthly belongings in another. kirsti's trip took a little longer than ours. in kamloops, her oil cap had come off, spraying oil all over the place--it was literally oozing out the front of the hood when we stopped for gas there. after an hour and a half or so, we'd gotten a new gas cap, topped up the oil, and were on our way.
scott and i had bought each other walkie talkies for christmas, so we had one in our car, and kirsti had one in hers. we were a bit ahead of her, but caught her near merritt when we pulled off so i could pee. we caught up with her at the toll booth, and then continued on. soon enough, we were out of range, but i kept trying to buzz her every few minutes. i finally caught her on the highway near hope, but couldn't make out what she was saying before we were out of range again.
i kept trying to buzz her till about abbotsford, then gave up. we got in just before the snow started sticking. once we got home, i was about to call kirsti's parents to get her cell number and make sure she made it ok, but figured i'd let my parents know we'd gotten in ok first. when i called home, my mom said that her parents were trying to get a hold of me to let me know that she'd had car trouble in hope, and had just gotten on the road. it was about 5:30 by now, and we'd left vernon just before 11am. i called her parents, and they said she was going to call me when she got to her aunt's in richmond.
at about sometime later, maybe 7'ish, i finally heard from kirsti...only she wasn't at her aunt's, turned out that in hope her muffler had fallen off, which had delayed her, then she missed the exit, and ended up going over the second narrows. she got turned around, only to slide right off the road once she got back to the other side. she was calling to chat while waiting the estimated couple hours for the tow truck to pull her out.
the boys decided that they may as well see if they could pull her out, so we headed out to find her. it didn't take too long, though with all the snow we did get stuck once. (for those not in vancouver, we've had record amounts of snow since then) there was the little geo, one tire still on the road, the rest of it in the ditch. kirsti was thrilled to see us, and the tow truck arriving at the same time. they truck pulled her out, and then took off. kirsti was going to follow us a few blocks back to hastings, but as soon as she started driving, it was apparent that she wasn't going to make it very far--one of the front tires was wobbling all over the place. the guys ran up and waved her to stop.
she called the tow truck again--another 2 hours. she finally gave in and decided to stay with us. luckily, it arrived in about half an hour, and we had it towed to near our place. then we dropped bliss off and went to pick up a bunch of kirsti's stuff from the car. after getting a few groceries, we got home around 10:30pm. the longest 5 hour trip ever!
the next day, new year's eve, it turned out that the rim needed to be replaced, and they couldn't get the part until the 5th, when kirsti was supposed to be in class in vic. the meanies tried to get her to replace her tires too, but tall scott gave them a talking to, and they banged out her rim for 40 bucks. enough to get her on the road again.
as much as this all sucked, it was lucky in a way, cause i got to hang out with kirsti for a few days, the longest in a good few years. she stayed for new years, and then headed out in the afternoon for a night at her aunts.

kirsti did eventually make it back to victoria...
since then, i began a knitting project, my first sweater. it may be a little ambitious, but i need something more challenging than a scarf. and i'd better finish it...the wool costed a small fortune. i'll let you know how it goes.
i've also been sewing, since i finally got the sewing machine i got for my birthday figured out. i fixed scott's jacket, and spent the better part of a day and a half making a nifty corduroy paint/brush holder for the supercool easel that scott got me for christmas...

i'm so crafty!
anyway, this has gotten plenty long enough for one night. hope you're all well.

i don't know why, but i'm not even tired yet. i'm soooo thirsty though, and i just chugged some water, which is a bad idea cause i'll have to get up and pee!
