That's right kids, it's the much awaited photo edition of midge's blog! Check it out...
So, like I'd said last time, Tall Scott...

...gave me a manicure for Christmas, his sis, who is an aesthetician did my nails...here they are after only half the little jewels had fallen off, but before I took the rest off. As an update, humour me, and feel the surface of your nail...feel all those little lines? Well, I guess mine got buffed off. Now that I've taken the polish off, my nails are crazily smooth...it freaks me out a little.

I thought I'd post a couple of my paintings while I was at it with the picture taking. There are two that I really like how they turned out. One is from 2002, which I gave to the Scotts as a housewarming present when they first moved in here:

The other is one that I did just after Christmas this year:

On a different note, here are the promised pics of my fig tree...like I said, it's more of a stick right now...

But there's a really good little bud of leaves on the tip:

It's a brown turkey fig, and makes red fleshed figs...mmmmm. The dude at the garden store said that it probably won't fruit this year, but if I'm really lucky, and the weather cooperates, I could get some. Exciting!
I forgot to take pics of my sweater, so I'll have to put them up next time! Oh, the suspense!

actually, more like slugs. i've been feeling a little sluggish lately...i think it's just the weather though. anyway, many random things have been going on:
35 more papers to mark (from 100) by the 23rd, as well as a quiz. almost through the worst of it...
tall scott's mom and sister came over yesterday. his sis is an aesthetician, so he'd given me a manicure with her for christmas, and i finally had it done. it was my first manicure, and it was actually pretty fun...except the cuticle cutter was a bit scary. i even got little jewel dragonflies, which were really cool, except they've already half fallen off. i tried to be really careful, but the little jewels keep disappearing.
we went to the garden store yesterday too, bought a big sac of dirt, some herbs, and my most prized new plant...a brown turkey fig tree. well, it's actually more of a tall stick right now, but he's a looker, i tell you.
we also stopped by the sewing store so i could pick up some threads to do some mending. scott had quite the experience...something akin to what we gals go through at computer stores, hardware stores, etc. since most of the mending was for scott, he was paying for the thread, and the woman at the cashier would only talk to me, and thanked me afterwards, even though scott had carried up the stuff and payed for it. sadly, most of the women who work at fabric stores are really dumb and bitchy, so i guess i never expect too much.
i have an allergist appointment tomorrow, i'm going to get some new tests done. he wants to re-do the yeast and milk to see how it's going with those. plus i'm going to be re-tested for trees and grass, because i'm thinking of getting allergy shots for them. and i'm also getting tests for shellfish, to see if i'm really allergic. i had the shellfish done last week, but apparently there was too much claritin still in my system, so they have to be redone. i'm actually kind of scared, apparently testing for the more serious allergies is actually dangerous. hopefully everything will go fine, and i'll just have an itchy back afterwards, which will drive me crazy through my class.
as of tomorrow, one more week till the new sarah harmer album! countdown is on.
anyway, i think that's it for now. stay tuned for photos soon to come, and wish me luck with the tests tomorrow!

before i forget, i was using the notification function wrong, so those who signed up for it should now actually get notifications....
i have been marking term papers all day. i am so sick of marking term papers, and i'm only a quarter through them. blah. blah. blah.
luckily, i'm taking a break from marking to go out for supper with a couple of old friends, one who recently moved to vancouver, another who is visiting from saskatoon, who i haven't seen for ages. it should be great, i can't wait to catch up on all the gossip.
but seriously, i'm really hating school. i don't know why i don't just leave it and do something else for a while. i guess i'm just too much of a chicken, i really don't like uncertainty. and i'm sooooo bored with school. i feel like i'm not learning anything, and i'm doing work that i hate. all i want to do right now is quit school, and paint (or something else just as unrealistic.)
i don't know why i keep pushing myself to do the academic thing, when my heart really isn't in it. it's like i wouldn't know what to do otherwise.
if any of you have any wisdom, criticism, etc. please feel free to bestow it upon me.

Well, it's been a slow night, so Scott and I had to head over to Timmy Ho's. No winnings tonight though. I've been marking verrrrry slowly today--actually, more procrastinating than marking, I'd have to say. Yup, it's been a slow day all around. In all honesty though, not too much is new! Just schooling away. I've been waking up much earlier than usual though...usually 8:30 weekdays...I know, for some it will be hard to believe. So most days, I feel fairly productive. I think I'm going to start on a new painting soon. Anyway, not much more to say.
